Cytometry in Oncology

Nowadays in oncology, the use of targeted therapy is more and more common in most of the tumor cases. If we want to personalize treatments, we must understand the behavior of tumors, rather than the features of tumor cells. Thus, the cytometric methods are essential in oncology research because they produce valuable information about the cellular processes in the tumor cells and provide an opportunity to find new potential therapeutic targets.

Today we live in a revolution of information. Numerous new methods have appeared in the last decades, which provide an enormous amount of information for researchers. However, it is often very hard to understand which methods suit our investigation and provide adequate data. For example, there are methods that only provide results about the protein expression of cells, while other methods provide information about the morphology of cells. Therefore, it is essential to know which cytometry method is the best to help us answer our questions.

This Special Issue welcomes contributions that improve our understanding of cell-based analysis methods which can be used in oncology research. We encourage researchers who use cell analysis methods in their oncological investigation to share their studies here. Potential areas of interest may include, but are not limited to:

● Flow cytometry
● Image cytometry
● Confocal microscopy
● Mass cytometry (CYTOF)
● In situ hybridization
● Tissue microarray
● Quantitative immunohistochemistry & immunofluorescence

We encourage the submission of different article types to this collection, especially reviews, mini-reviews, and original research papers.

Even though abstract submission is not mandatory, we encourage all interested researchers to submit an abstract before submitting their manuscript. Abstracts do not have to coincide with the final abstract of the manuscripts.
