Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality across the world. In recent years, the field of pulmonary oncology has undergone significant changes and is continuing to rapidly evolve today. For these reasons, we aim to review the currently used lung cancer management methods and provide insights into the newly emerging treatment techniques. The expert panel will inform us about early screening and diagnostic techniques, which are important drivers for improved survival rates and the quality of life for lung cancer patients. In addition, we will cover irradiation and surgical treatment options available in cases with solitary metastases. Lastly, we will explore novel treatment techniques such as chemo-immunotherapies and targeted therapies. We believe that the articles collected in this Special Issue will provide important practical information to our readers interested in the currently available and future lung cancer management strategies.
This Special Issue welcomes contributions that improve our understanding of the currently used and emerging diagnostic and treatment techniques used in lung cancer management. Potential areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
● Diagnostics using endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS).
● Early screening using low-dose computerized tomography (CT).
● Molecular pathology results, driver mutations and liquid biopsy.
● Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) and metastasectomy techniques.
● Chemo-irradiations, stereotaxic radiosurgery, stereotaxic radiotherapy.
● Targeted therapies.
● Chemo-immunotherapies.
Even though abstract submission is not mandatory, we encourage all interested researchers to submit an abstract before submitting their manuscript. Abstracts do not have to coincide with the final abstract of the manuscripts.
