Background

In recent years, researchers of pulmonary oncology have discovered and applied numerous predictive tissue markers that are currently used in personalized therapies for lung cancer patients. These treatment strategies have revolutionized the management of various lung cancers, resulting in improved patient survival compared to the traditional methods. In addition, due to the ability to predict the response of patients to various therapy approaches, we now can choose the most beneficial treatments that are also less toxic resulting in the improved quality of life of patients. Current research efforts are focused on discovering new predictive tissue markers that can serve as new and efficient tools for pulmonary oncologists. However, we must also encourage and review the practical use of predictive tissue markers and new treatment strategies in the clinical setting.

We believe that the articles collected in this Special Issue will inform readers from the fields of pathology, genetics and pulmonary oncology of the practical use of predictive tissue markers and motivate their further implementation in daily practice to ensure the best outcomes and quality of life for lung cancer patients.

Editors of this Special Issue invite authors to share the results of their research in the routine administration of personalized treatment and its outcomes after the use of predictive tissue markers in small cell and non-small cell lung carcinoma cases. Potential areas of interest may include, but are not limited to:

● New predictive tissue markers for pulmonary oncology.
● Findings of routine administration of personalized treatment
● Findings from trials of personalized biological therapy along with standard chemotherapy
● Immunotherapy and its correlation to tests performed on tissue materials.

Even though abstract submission is not mandatory, we encourage all interested researchers to submit an abstract before submitting their manuscript. Abstracts do not have to coincide with the final abstract of the manuscripts. For authors, please review the journal's information regarding Author Guidelines and Article Processing Charges, or direct any questions to the Editorial Office: por@por-journal.com.
